PENSACOLA MILL
Testimonials

Principal, Jim Allen Elementary School
Mill Community Advisory Council Member
"International Paper Company is a very dedicated partner in education. For many years, they have provided funding for special projects, personnel for mentoring, and numerous volunteer hours. We are fortunate to have a partnership with IP."

Pres. and CEO, Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce
"I've spent a great deal of time learning about this project, and I am particularly impressed with the 'best practices' instituted by IP. I have not yet found anything to dull my optimism. International Paper understands its role as a responsible neighbor to protect our natural resources so that the manufacturing and tourism industries may exist harmoniously in our community to promote economic prosperity."

Senior Vice Pres., Regions Bank
"The Pensacola Mill is a major economic driver in this area with annual impact numbers in the hundreds of millions. But they also understand that in order to do business in Northwest Florida, they must balance industry and environmental protection and are willing to spend whatever it takes to do so. As an employer, neighbor, and environmental steward, IP is an undeniable asset to our community."

CEO, Baptist Health Care
"International Paper's Water Quality Improvement Project is a prime example of their commitment to excellence. In addition to environmental protection, IP is also a choice employer for our community, committed to safety and ethics as the core of their business model."

Robert Wells Mill Employee, Power Business Unit USW Local 01561 Union Leader "I believe it does not have to be an 'either/or' proposition when it comes to economics and the environment. We can preserve some very valuable jobs and tax revenues and still make progress in caring for the environment. I am confident that the Water Quality Improvement Project will move us in both directions at the same time." |
President, University of West Florida
"International Paper is an important component of our local economy, and has been so for decades. Its economic impact is broad, and the jobs at IP have among the highest average salaries in the region. I believe IP is serious about being good environmental stewards, and the plan includes the proposed re-use of 5 million gallons of water per day that will save that amount from being pumped from the aquifer."

Mill Employee, Quality Engineer
"I've worked at the Pensacola mill since graduating from college 12 years ago, and I've never been more proud to be an employee at IP's Pensacola Mill. I see every day how committed the mill is to the health and safety of our customers, our community and every employee."

Denise Samuel Mill Employee, Finance Dept. President, Pensacola Mill MLK, Jr. Steering Committee "After graduating from college, many of my friends left town seeking better employment opportunities. However, I was fortunate to find a job at Harvesters Federal Credit Union and eventually came to be employed with International Paper. Each year, the mill MLK, Jr. Steering Committee awards scholarships to assist local graduating seniors in furthering their education. Since its inception, mill employees alone have given $104,000, not including any additional company funds. We also assist local seniors and the disabled during the holidays with grocery and utility money and help clean their yards in the spring and summer months. Our company and employees are always willing to assist where we can." |
